How it works

  1. Sounds become symbols

Each Japanese sound gets one memorable picture. You hear it, see it and link the two.
  2. Symbols become words

A word's sounds combine into one scene. Picture the scene and the word comes back.
  3. It keeps adding up

Every new word reuses symbols you already know, so each lesson is quicker than the last.

English speakers starting Japanese from zero. You don't need to know any hiragana or grammar first; the course introduces each sound, word and pattern when you need it.

How do the pictures work?

Each Japanese sound gets one picture, such as ね (ne) → net. A word's picture combines the pictures for its sounds. They come back in later words, so each new word is quicker to learn.

Remlori runs in the browser on your phone, tablet or computer, so there is nothing to install.

Does it teach grammar and speaking too?

Yes. Lessons add polite sentence patterns, particles such as wa, ga and wo, sentence building, and short conversations, all with audio.
