Hiragana chart with audio and picture cues
All 104 sounds Remlori teaches, in hiragana. Tap a sound to hear it and see its memory cue: one picture that stands for that sound in every word you learn.
Basic hiragana
Voiced sounds (dakuten and handakuten)
Two small marks change a sound: ゛ makes k→g, s→z, t→d and h→b; ゜ makes h→p.
Combined sounds (yōon)
A small ゃ, ゅ or ょ after an i-sound blends the two into one beat: き + ょ = きょ (kyo), not "ki-yo".
Marks
- ー — the long vowel mark: Hold the vowel before it for one extra beat: あー is a long A.
- っ — small tsu: Pause for one beat before the next consonant: きって is “kit-te,” not “kite.”
Why a picture for each sound?
A sound like ね (ne) is hard to remember on its own. A net is easy. Once ね means "net", every word containing ね has a net in its picture, so you learn the sound once and reuse it hundreds of times. How picture mnemonics work →
